Haryana Food and Supplies Minister Karan Dev Kamboj today said that in order to stop wheat theft in the state, all godowns would be personally inspected.

For this purpose, teams are being formed in all districts, he added.

Kamboj said that the teams would be formed on inter-district basis, in which the department officer of one district would inspect the wheat godowns of other districts.

He said under the supervision of Additional Chief Secretary, the work of formation of teams would be completed soon and immediately posted for inspection purpose.

The District Commissioners of related districts would act as nodal officers of the teams.

After getting their report, the state government would also get a third party inspection done of all godowns and all the records would be reviewed, he said.

The Food and Supplies Minister said this would help check theft incidents in different parts of the state and ensure that there is no shortage of ration for Below Poverty Line (BPL) families under Public Distribution System.

The BPL families would be provided with full ration on time and anybody involved in fraudulent activities would not be spared, he said.

Kamboj said the state government has taken incidents of theft in Pehowa, Ismailabad and Safidon seriously and has issued orders of investigation.

Strict actions are being taken to stop recurrence of scams that had happened in the regime of previous government, he said.

The minister said complaints regarding irregularities in paddy procurement have also been received and alleged that with connivance of some millers and dealers, the procurement of paddy was shown, while in reality paddy was not procured.

The matter is under investigation, he added.
