Wheat up on flour mills buying; rice eases

Wheat prices edged higher by Rs 10 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on increased offtake by flour mills.

However, rice basmati lacked necessary buying support and receded.

Traders said increased offtake by flour mills to meet rising demand mainly attributed the rise in wheat prices.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) rose by Rs 10 to Rs 1,590-1,595 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and edged up to Rs 1,605-1,610 from Rs 1,585-1,590 per 90 kg.

Atta flour mills, maida and sooji also ended higher at Rs 840-850, Rs 910-920 and Rs 1,030-1040 from previous levels of Rs 825-830, Rs 900-910 and Rs 1,020-1,030 per 50 kg respectively in line with a wheat trend.
 

On the other hand, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety eased to Rs 5,400-5,700 and Rs 4,200-5,500 against last close of Rs 5,500-5,700 and Rs 4,300-5,700 per quintal respectively.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 5,400-5,700, Rice Pusa (1121) 4,200-5,500, Permal raw 1,700-1,750, Permal wand 1,900-1,925, Sela 2,300-2,400 and Rice IR-8 1,600-1,625, Bajra 1,200-1,205, Jowar yellow 1,600-1,700, white 3,000-3,100, Maize 1,350-1,355, Barley 1,260-1,270.
