Wheat weakens on subdued demand, increased supply

Wheat prices eased by Rs 5 per quintal in an otherwise steady wholesale grains market today owing to reduced offtake by flour mills against sufficient stocks on increased arrivals.

Marketmen said reduced offtake by flour mills against adequate stocks position on higher supplies from producing areas mainly kept pressure on wheat prices.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) shed Rs 5 at Rs 1,670-1,700 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded lower by a similar margin to Rs 1,700-1,715 per 90 kg.

Atta flour mills, maida and sooji also slipped to Rs 880-885,Rs 935-940 and Rs 1,040-1,045 against last close of Rs 900-905,Rs 945-950 and Rs 1,090-1,095 per 50 kg respectively.
