The lone BJP member in the West Bengal Assembly Shamik Bhattacharya today sought a reply from the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government as to why the 21st July Commission report was not yet placed in the House.

Raising a question during Mention Hour, Bhattacharya wondered that months after submission of the report by the Justice Sushanta Chatterjee Commission before the state government, why it was yet to be placed in the House.

The Justice Sushanta Chatterjee Commission, which was probing the police firing on July 21, 1993 in which 13 Congress workers were killed and more than 50 others were injured, submitted its report on December 29, 2014 to the Mamata Banerjee government.

After submitting the report, Justice Chatterjee had commented the tragedy of that day could have been avoided with a more sensible step from the then state government.
