Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh today said if a governor is to be removed only for political reasons, then the Centre must consider whether it is right to seek the resignations of "apolitical" governors too.
"Continuation of governors depends on the wish of the Centre. But if the governors are to be removed because of political reasons, then the Centre must also think whether it is right to remove apolitical persons who are working as governors in some states," Singh said here amidst reports that the Centre has asked a number of governors, appointed during the UPA regime, to resign.
The Congress General Secretary also announced that he will hold a seven-day-long fast here from July 7 in support of the hailstorm-hit farmers of Guna district if they didn't get compensation by then.
