With BJP stepping up attack on Sheila Dikshit dispensation for rising power tariff, Delhi Congress today asked the opposition party why it was keeping silence on "steep hike" in electricity rates in party ruled states.
"The BJP must explain its mysterious silence over the steep hike in power rates in BJP ruled states," senior Congress MLA and Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's Parliamentary Secretary Mukesh Sharma said.
BJP has been staging demonstration against rising power tariff and announced that the rates will be cut by 30 per cent if the party comes to power in the assembly polls later this year.

Sharma said Delhi government was supplying round-the- clock power in the city whereas in BJP ruled states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat it is being supplied only for five to six hours.
The senior Congress MLA addressed a series of public meetings today to exhort people to join the "Vishal Vikas Rally" organised in his constituency Uttam Nagar on June 9 to be addressed by Smt Dikshit.
"To ensure regular round-the-clock supply in a city like Delhi is a big challenge and the government headed by Dikshit has made it possible by starting generation in Delhi itself after a gap of 15 years and arranging power at reasonable rates trough long term agreements.
"It is on record that our generation is increasing in quantum. The Chief Minister has been successful in ensuring an islanding facility. Further the government has been providing subsidy of Rs 1 per unit to those consumers who limit their monthly consumption at 200 units. The rates in Delhi are much cheaper than all other metro citis," Sharma said.
