Moderate to heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Punjab and Haryana today bringing down the maximum temperature and providing relief to people from heat and sultry conditions prevailing in the region.
Rain waters inundated many low lying areas in the region, officials said.
The rains continued for the second day today, bringing respite to people from hot days and sultry weather.

Derabassi was lashed by 106 mm of rainfall, Nuh 98 mm, Indri 90 mm, Gurdaspur 62.4 mm, Naraingarh 76 mm, Jagadhari 57 mm and Ballabgarh 46 mm, the MeT office said here.
Besides, Faridabad received 55 mm of rainfall, Kurukshetra 51 mm, Thanesar 47 mm, Morni 44 mm, Chandigarh 40.4 mm, Patiala 26.4 mm, Kalka 25 mm, Radaur 24 mm, Rajpura 37 mm, Khrar 18 mm, Nawanshahr 10 mm, Panipat 6.1 mm, Rohtak five mm, Ambala 14.6 mm and Patiala 26.4 mm.
The rainfall eased power and water situation in the region to some extent, officials said.
The MeT forecast light to moderate showers in few places in the region during the next 24 hours.
