Wife of a farmer allegedly immolated herself in front of her husband's body after the former committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling at his house in Bhader village here due to failure of crop, police said today.

The 34-year-old farmer, identified as Haresh Rabadia, was distressed over the failure of his crop, said sub-inspector J S Rana of Dhoraji taluka police station.

In a tragic fallout of the incident, Rabadia's wife, Bhavisha (31), killed herself allegedly by setting herself on fire last night in front of her husband's body.

"Bhavisha Rabadia, who was extremely saddened with her husband's untimely death, burnt herself alive in Bhader village near Dhoraji town yesterday," Rana said.

He said Bhavisha excused herself to a room in her house, where Haresh's body was kept, under the pretext of feeding her six-month-old baby.

"Few minutes later, the family members saw flames and smoke coming out of the room and rushed there only to find Bhavisha severely burnt. She died on the spot," Rana said.

A case has been registered in this regard.
