A 29-year old man was trampled to death by a wild elephant on the city outskirts early on Monday, police said.
Ganeshan, a driver, was returning home in Pannimadai on the city outskirts, when the single elephant which strayed from a nearby forest area suddenly chased and attacked him.
He sustained serious injuries on his head, abdomen and legs, police said.
Anti-poaching watchers, who were on patrol, noticed the man lying injured and rushed him to the Government Hospital where he was declared brought dead, police said.
