Congress today said it will allow the new Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghuvar Das-led government six months' time to deliver and assured support to its people-oriented policies.

Observing the 130th foundation day of the party here today, East Singhbhum district Congress committee president Vikay Khan said the party would allow the new government led by Das to function for six months and then comment on it based on its performance.

"We will support all good and people-oriented policies of the government and speak out against it if it fails to deliver in six months time," Khan said.

As Das represents Jamshedpur, Khan said he should fulfil all promises he had made during the election campaign like according ownership rights to the people living in 114 slums in and around the city and reopening of the Indian Cable Company shut down for over a decade.

A delegation of DCC would soon meet Das and take up the issues including measures for welfare of labourers, he said.

Referring to the party's debacle in the recently concluded Assembly elections in East Singhbhum district, Khan said the party gained one lakh votes more compared to the last parliamentary polls but admitted it could not assess people's sentiments properly.

Asked about the demand for a change in the party's state leadership, Khan said the issue has to be addressed by the party high command.
