A day after Jammu and Kashmir High Court stayed the order of a single bench on hoisting of state's flag, the original petitioner today said he would continue to pursue the case as the J-K flag was a "symbol of Kashmiri nationalism".

Abdul Qayoom Khan, a retired Indian Forest Service officer had filed the writ petition in the Srinagar wing of the High Court in 2013.

A two-member Division Bench of the High Court yesterday stayed the order of the single bench which had directed hoisting of the state's flag on official buildings and vehicles of constitutional authorities, triggering a political storm.

Khan told reporters that he would continue to "pursue the case as the state flag was a symbol of Kashmiri nationalism."

He also appealed to the High Court Bar Association of Kashmir to plead his case.
