The Centre today made it clear to the Supreme Court that senior Tamil Nadu cadre woman IPS officer, Archana Ramasundaram, would not be considered in future for the post of Additional Director in CBI as she had been empaneled for the post of DGP and presently posted as the Director of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
The statement to this effect was made by Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar before a bench comprising Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justice Arun Mishra which on October 13 had asked him to take instruction on the issue from the competent authority.
The Solicitor General today informed the bench that he has a written instruction from the Home Secretary to state that Ramasundaram would not be considered in future for the post of Additional Director, CBI.

He submitted that Ramasundaram, a 1980 batch Indian Police Service (IPS), has been in the empanelment for the post of DGP.
Taking on record the Centre's stand, the bench closed the chapter on her issue which had come through a PIL challenging her appointment as the Additional Director of the CBI without following the mandatory guidelines.
The officer had also moved an application saying that the issue should be closed as she has moved out of the CBI.
She had earlier joined the CBI without being relieved by the Tamil Nadu Government which had suspended her, an order that was later revoked.
The apex court had also restrained her from discharging her duty as Additional Director in CBI while asking her to first get the suspension order revoked.
Ramsundaram had also complained that the apex court order was in the way of her promotion to the rank of DGP.
A PIL was filed in early 2014 against posting her as CBI's Additional Director without following proper procedure of getting the consent of Tamil Nadu government, to whose police force she belongs.
The apex court had on May 9, 2014 restrained her from discharging her duty as Additional Director in CBI.
The officer had joined the CBI pursuant to the Centre's direction and there was no relieving order from the state government.
Tamil Nadu government had also submitted that the IPS officer joined the CBI without being relieved by it.
