Press Trust of India Jammu
Jammu and Kashmir unit of BJP today said it would oppose any move to curtail quota of monthly ration and kerosene in the state.

Led by Jammu Mahanagar District President Rajesh Gupta, over 250 party activists staged a demonstration outside office of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Director against "anti-consumer" decisions of the department.

They also burnt an effigy of the department and submitted a memorandum to the Assistant Director in absence of the Director.

Gupta said any decision to bring down the monthly quota of ration items would cause consumers to suffer.

He appealed the Director to look into issues raised in the memorandum and take action accordingly.

He demanded rationalisation of ration scheme depending upon individual member of each family instead of keeping it based collectively on family unit.
