Punjab Congress today said that it will soon approach the Supreme Court on the issue of demanding a CBI probe into the alleged drug trade in the state.

"We reiterate our demand for a CBI probe into the drug trade in the state but the Punjab government is not listening. We knocked the doors of the High Court but we were not heard their either. So, very soon, we will approach the Supreme Court and will ask them to direct the state government to order a probe into it," state Congress President Pratap Singh Bajwa said.

He also claimed that the real reason behind the calling of Sikh Conference on July 27 was not the formation of a separate Sikh committee by Haryana, but to "hand over" power by Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal to his son Sukhbir Badal.

"If that is not true, then all members of the Badal family in state and at the Centre, should resign from their posts," he said.
