The women candidates of two rival parties- BJP and Congress - who are in race for Mayor's post in Indore, today said that turning the city cleaner and making it more beautiful would be the priority and focus area, if voted to power.

BJP candidate Malini Gaud and Congress nominee Archana Jaiswal, who are in fray for the January 31 mayoral polls of Indore Municipal Corporation, filed their nomination papers here today.

Malini said she has resolved to transform Indore and address people's problems.

"We are going to turn the city clean, beautiful and pollution-free according to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of smart city. We will clean the Khan river, work on garbage disposal management and mitigate people's basic problems," Malini told reporters after filing her nomination.

However, Archana criticised the BJP alleging that despite the saffron party ruling the municipal corporation for the last 15 years, the city and its people are facing lack of sanitation.

"People don't have basic facilities and the BJP's smart city promise is a farce," she said.

The civic body polls for 85 wards will be held on January 31 and counting of votes will take place on February 4.
