Slamming the ruling combine of Congress-NCP over farmers' suicide in Vidarbha region, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray today said he would take up their issues with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"The Congress-NCP government in Maharashtra failed to take decisions in favour of farmers, which is why so many farmers committed suicide in Vidarbha region," Thackeray said during a public meeting here.
"I am aware of the problems that the Vidarbha farmers are facing. The lack of rains is only adding to their woes. I will personally take up their issues with Prime Minister to bring about a positive change in their condition," he added.
Stating that the Congress-NCP combine was decimated in Vidarbha in the recent Lok Sabha polls, the Sena chief said, "People have power to bring change. They gave a thumping mandate in favour of the safforn alliance of Shiv Sena-BJP in the parliamentary polls and they need to keep up this trend in the upcoming assembly polls as well.
