The Telangana government aimed to simplify land records through the ongoiong drive of 'purification and updation of land records', Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said in the Legislative Assembly today.
Noting that there is a lot of confusion about ownership and other aspects of land records at present, he said the 'purification and updation' drive would make the land records simple and transparent.
The land accounts would be updated on the model of the core banking network being used by banks, he said.

"Land accounts would be updated on the model of core banking network. On the same day... Where is the land and on whose name it is...That will be the official document of government of Telangana," he said.
Rao, who spoke extensively on the issue, said the land mass of Telangana is 2.76 crore acres. There are 10,885 revenue villages.
The government would provide new passbooks to land owners from January 26, he said.
Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy, Congress member M Bhatti Vikramarka, TDP's Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and others spoke.
