"Harry Potter" franchise producer David Heyman is planning to bring Willy Wonka back to the big screen for a new adventure.
Warner Bros bosses have acquired the film rights to the classic Roald Dahl character and have recruited Heyman to develop a new take on Wonka.
According to Variety, he will produce the project with Michael Siegel, manager of the Roald Dahl Estate, while "The Secret Life of Pets" writer Simon Rich will pen the screenplay.
The reboot will be a standalone movie, which will explore Wonka's early days, before his appearance in 1964 book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."
He also featured in the children's author's 1972 release, "Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator."
Wonka has previously been portrayed onscreen by Johnny Depp, in Tim Burton's 2005 film "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", and the late Gene Wilder, who originated the movie role in 1971's "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory."
Wilder passed away at his home in Stamford, Connecticut in August due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. He was 83.
