Winter intensifies grip over Rajasthan

Winter intensified its grip over Rajasthan today with Sriganganagar reeling under 5.7 degrees Celsius, even as dense fog affected road and rail traffic.

Sriganganagar was the coldest place in the state, followed by Churu which registered a night temperature of 6.6 degrees Celsius.

Sikar, Mount Abu, Alwar, Dabok recorded minimum of 6, 7, 7.4 and 8.8 degrees Celsius, respectively, while Pilani, Jaipur, Kota and Jaisalmer registered minimum temperature of 9.5, 10.4, 13.2 and 13.8 degrees Celsius, according to the MeT department here.

Dense fog prevailed in northern region which affected movement of trains.

The North Western Railway (NWR) rescheduled Jodhpur-Varanasi Express, while 16 trains were running behind schedule.
 

The trains running late included Allahabad-Jaipur Express, Jammutawi-Ajmer Superfast Express. The maximum delay was up to 9 hours 20 minute in the morning hours, according to an NWR spokesperson.
