WinZO sets up $1.5 mn fund to promote game developers

WinZO, a vernacular e-sports gaming platform, Thursday said it is setting up a USD 1.5 million (over Rs 10 crore) fund to support game developers and acquire content for the platform.

Kaalari Capital-backed WinZO offers over 25 games on its app-based platform in 10 languages, including English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Gujarati.

The company aims to develop real-time multi-player mobile gaming experience that is social, inclusive, and accessible for the first-time smartphone users in tier II and III markets, a statement said.

WinZO would use the funds set aside to develop localised content for the platform in partnership with cherry-picked game developers in India and around the world, it added.

* Cognizant appoints Sandra Wijnberg as independent director

IT services company Cognizant Thursday announced the appointment of Sandra Wijnberg as an independent director on its board with effect from July 16, 2019.

"We believe Sandra's broad financial and professional services experience will make a significant contribution to Cognizant," the company's chairman Michael Patsalos-Fox said in a statement.

Wijnberg, 62, was most recently an executive advisor to Aquiline Holdings, a registered investment advisory firm, from 2015 to early 2019 and from 2007 to 2014 was in the role of partner and chief administrative officer at the firm, the statement added.

* Ujjivan SFB forays into vehicle finance, disburses loans from Patna

Ujjivan Small Finance Bank (SFB) Thursday announced launch of its vehicle finance services with the disbursement of electric three-wheeler loans from Patna in Bihar.

Ujjivan Bank Raftaar Loan (vehicle finance) will enable Ujjivan SFB to offer its unbanked and under-banked customers, access to easy financing options for vehicles, the bank said in a release.

Through this initiative, Ujjivan SFB aims to address the individuals' aspirations to own a vehicle towards supplementing their income, for a better lifestyle, it said.

Ujjivan Bank will be targeting its existing customer base of 46 lakh for vehicle finance.
