Wipro's lighting and furniture business today said it has entered into a licensing agreement with Interstuhl of Germany to manufacture its popular 'Goal' range of chairs for the Indian market.

"....We have licensing agreement signed up with the Interstuhl of Germany; Interstuhl is one of the top chair manufacturers of Europe," Wipro Senior Vice President and Business Head (Commercial Light & Furniture Business) Parag Kulkarni told reporters here.

He said Wipro has the licensing agreement for manufacturing the Goal range of chairs for the India market. "We are going to manufacture these chairs at a very modern facility in Chennai."

"....The important thing about our Chennai facility is it is 100 per cent ladies manufacturing facility, it is a unique facility and the entire workforce there is all women....; they are approximately about 75 in number" he added.

Without sharing any numbers on Wipro's presence in the furniture market, Kulkarni said "...Market will have players from the organised as well as the un-organised category; our view is that in the last few years we have really seen the customers understanding the benefits of working with organised players, because they bring forward good design, reliability and service...".

"...We have seen market moving more towards organised market and I think the un-organised market is getting marginalised."

The company today at its signature event 'Light & Furniture Show' launched Interstuhl range of chairs, public area seating range 'Pause' designed by Toronto based international designer Conrad Marini, and LED lighting range designed for commercial and residential buildings.
