Delhi BJP today urged its members to knock on every door in the national capital ahead of Assembly polls here even as the party conducted nearly 550 Shakti Kendra meetings in the city.

Almost every BJP leader, including the party's city unit chief Satish Upadhyay and state office-bearers and district and mandal office-bearers, joined these meetings, according to a release here.

Shakti Kendras are a formation of six to eight booth-level volunteers and each constituency saw eight such meetings.

BJP MPs Ramesh Bidhuri, Parvesh Verma and Maheish Girri, too, attended these meetings and urged party leaders to ensure that the membership and Swachhta campaigns are carried out properly while Upadhyay asked BJP workers to go from door- to-door to secure its victory in Delhi polls.

A separate meeting of around 100 Chartered Accountants of Delhi, too, was held at the BJP office here.

Meanwhile, BJP National Secretary Sardar RP Singh has urged Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to declare a public holiday in the national capital tomorrow to mark the martyrdom day of Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur.
