Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday asked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to withdraw cases filed against Dhangar youth from 2014 in connection with their protests seeking job and education quota.
Raut asked Fadnavis to issue such an order before the latter attends a community event backed by state minister Mahadev Jankar here on Sunday.
Rajya Sabha MP Raut pointed out that Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray had led a delegation of community members to Fadnavis in February this year over various of its demands.
One of the demands, Raut said, was to withdraw "deliberately" filed cases against Dhangar youth right from their 2014 quota protest in Pune's Baramati.
"When will these cases be withdrawn? The youngsters lost their jobs because of the cases? The youth continue to face injustice despite the government's assurances.
"The Shiv Sena demands that the chief minister fulfill the assurances by issuing order for withdrawing the cases before tomorrow's event," Raut said in a statement.
