Working News Cameramen's Association today condemned the gangrape of a photojournalist in Mumbai and said it stands in solidarity with the victim.

"WNCA stands in solidarity with the victim and calls for society to resolve to make country safer for women and girls in their homes and outside," it said in a statement today.

It said such incidents should not deter young women from joining the profession of photojournalism.

Mumbai Police has claimed to have cracked the case and arrested some accused.

WNCA is the largest body of professional print and electronic media photo/video journalists working for national and international media organisations. It has about 400 members.
