A 25-year-old woman was allegedly abducted by three persons from outside a multiplex in south Delhi's Vasant Vihar area and gang-raped in a moving car on the wee hours today, police said.

The woman was with a female friend walking on a pavement outside the multiplex heading towards their home in Munirka around 3.15 AM when a car approached them. There were three persons in the car who pulled the woman inside and drove off, a police official said.

The woman's friend tried to rescue her but the trio pushed her away and fled. The friend, who had noted the car's registration number, then called up the police control room.

The car was tracked near east Delhi's Geeta Colony area and the accused were arrested. But the woman was not present in the vehicle then, the official said.

Meanwhile, the woman called up her friend and informed her that the trio had dropped her at Poorvi Marg in Vasant Vihar.

A team was rushed there and she was taken to a hospital, where doctors confirmed sexual assault.

The victim, who is a native of Himachal Pradesh, told police that she was gang raped in a moving car and dumped on the road. Police are also looking into CCTV footage in connection with the matter.

The accused were slapped with charges of abduction and gang rape. They were produced before a court today and sent to judicial custody, the official said.
