A woman has approached local Kurar police alleging rape by a police inspector.

Her written application was received by police earlier this week, following which statements of the officer concerned and the woman were recorded, a source said today.

The inspector in question was earlier posted at Kurar police station and is currently serving in Nagpur.

According to the source, no formal FIR has been registered yet and investigation is on to verify the complaint.

However, it is not known when did the alleged incident take place and whether the woman, a mother of three, was known to the inspector.

When contacted, DCP (Detection) Dhananjay Kulkarni said he would find out details.
