Concerned over the recent spate of crime against women in Uttar Pradesh, woman activist Sadhvi Prachi today began an indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar here to demand dismissal of the state government and imposition of President's rule.

"Uttar Pradesh government has been teaming up with criminals and rapists. Incidents of rape have increased ever since Mulayam Singh Yadav made a comment that boys tend to make mistakes and they should be forgiven. I want the government to be dismissed and President's rule imposed," she said.

Prachi said she will take up the matter with Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Smriti Irani and Uma Bharti.

"Uttar Pradesh has become a land of rapists. The law and order situation there is in doldrums," she said, adding her protest will continue till her demand was met.
