A 36-year-old woman was allegedly raped and blackmailed by her relative over the past one year, in Kardhnai area here, police said today.
The victim claimed that she was raped by her relative, who also made an obscene video of her to blackmail, they said.
She also said that the accused had extorted a sum of Rs 4.22 lakh in instalments from her, police said, adding the accused has been identified as Prem Kumar Bankar and the victim's daughter was engaged to his son.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of IPC including 376 for rape and 420 for cheating against the accused and probe will begin now, the police said.
