Woman alleges confinement, molestation by sarpanch

A married woman was allegedly kept in confinement and molested by a village sarpanch here following which he was today booked in the case, police said.

As per a complaint filed by the victim, a resident of Dharamgad village, last night, the accused identified as Devendra Singh had called the woman and her husband to his house for some work on March 16.

Singh then sent her husband out for some work and allegedly molested the woman. After she raised an alarm, her husband reached the spot and was allegedly beaten up by the sarpanch, they said.

Safidon SHO Dharamveer said that a case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered against the accused and investigations are underway.
 

Meanwhile, the sarpanch has called the charges baseless.
