A woman today alleged she was gangraped by three persons while on her way to a religious place, even as the police expressed doubt over the charge saying that she has been frequently changing statements.

In her complaint, the 35-year-old woman alleged that while she was on her way to Galta Tirath, the men raped her in a secluded place. The woman said she was walking after getting down from an autorickshaw in the early hours today when the crime was committed.

Police, however, say she has been repeatedly changing her statements.

"The woman said she was overpowered by three men when she was heading on foot after getting down from an autorickshaw. The statement of the driver, however, contradicts her claim," SHO P L Meena said.

He said a case has been registered in this connection and the matter is being investigated.
