Woman alleges rape by live-in partner in Raj

A 22-year-old married woman has alleged that she was raped by her live-in partner on the pretext of marriage, police said today.

In an FIR lodged with Ramganj thana yesterday, the woman, separated from her husband, alleged that 25-year-old Arif had raped while she was in live-in relationship with him at a rented room in Idgah area in the last one year, they said.

The accused was missing, they said.

The victim's statement would be recorded and she would be sent for medical examination today, they said.

According to the police, she had reportedly lodged a similar case of rape against one Shakur Ahmad in 2010 and then settled it out of court for Rs 1.50 lakh.
 

A case under section 376 of the IPC was lodged against Arif, they said adding that efforts are on to nab him.
