Woman among 5 arrested in minor girl gangrape case

Five people, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with the gangrape of a 15-year-old girl in Madhya Pradesh's Panna district, police said here today.

The accused, arrested yesterday, have been identified as Ram Bhagat Sahu, Ranjit, a woman named Munni Bai, Videsh Luniya and Sonelal, police said, adding that another accused Kallu Sen is absconding.

According to the police, Munni Bai had lured the girl to a spot where she was gangraped by the accused, as a result of which she became pregnant and was forced to undergo an abortion.

At the time of the incident, the girl's parents were away and she could not muster the courage to file a complaint against the accused.
 

Her parents returned yesterday and it was then that a complaint was filed and five of the six accused were arrested, police said.
