Two persons, including a woman, were killed and a minor girl was injured today when a car fell into Yamuna river in Uttarkashi district.
The mishap occurred on Navgaon-Badkot road when the car in which around nine persons were returning from a Mahashivratri fair at Navgaon plunged 200 m off the road into the river, Badkot sub-divisional magistrate Parmanand Ram told PTI.
Two bodies, including that of a 26-year-old woman, have been recovered and a 15-year-old girl injured in the accident has been rescued and rushed to a hospital.

However, the chances of their survival is thin due to strong river currents which swept them away, he said, adding, the toll may rise.
The deceased have been identified as Bindra Bedi and Jagat Singh, Ram said.
Rescue work is on with the help of locals to fish out the bodies, he said.
