A woman carrying two banned flying geckos in a car by concealing them inside a cigarette packet was arrested by Assam Rifles personnel from Khudengthabi in Chandel district on October 7 last,
A press release issued by PRO Assam Rifles said the woman was arrested by Assam Rifles personnel while conducting frisking and checking at Khudengthabi post of the Assam Rifles along Indo-Myanmar No 1 Asian Highway.
The arrested woman along with the seized reptiles was handed over to the Forest department for further investigation, the release said.
The wilf life trafficker was identified as M Keinahal (75) of Salungpham Mayai Leikai in Thoubal district.
