Woman arrested for human trafficking

A woman wanted in a human trafficking case registered in Haridwar was arrested by the Delhi Police from Madipur in west Delhi and handed over to their Uttarakhand counterparts.

Responding to a call received at Madipur police outpost on May 25 regarding some girls being brought from West Bengal to the city, policemen questioned Sandeep Kumar and his wife who were found to be under influence of alcohol and quarrelling over marital issues, said Vijay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (west).

The couple belonged to Roorkee and the woman used to work as an agent of supplying maids in the city.
 

During further questioning, it was revealed that the woman was wanted in some cases in Haridwar, said the officer.

It was found that the woman was wanted in connection with a case of human trafficking registered at Gang Nahar police station in Haridwar, but her details were not available with the local police.

Later, the Delhi Police sent a photograph of the woman to Gang Nahar police station, and she was identified by complainant in the case. A team from Gang Nahar police station visited Delhi and arrested her after questioning, added the officer.
