Woman Asst Prof found murdered, mother seriously injured

In a suspected case of sexual assault and murder, a 24-year-old Assistant Professor was found dead in her house at Karamadai, about 35 km from here today and her mother, seriously injured.

Police said they suspected an attempt to sexual assault on the woman as her body was found naked.

She was employed in a private college.

The almirah inside the house was broken open and valuables like ornaments and cash were missing, they said.

The woman's father, an Electricity Board employee at Kothagiri in nearby Nilgiris district returned around noon today and found the house locked from outside. After forcing it open, he found the body of his daughter and his wife groaning in pain, police said.
 

The injured woman, aged 48, was admitted to a private hospital.
