A 30-year-old woman, who was allegedly gangraped, attempted suicide by consuming poison at Kotwali police station here over police's "failure" to arrest the accused.

The woman yesterday consumed some poisonous substance at the entrance of the police station following which she was rushed to hospital where her condition is stated to be serious, police said.

On June 16, the woman was allegedly kidnapped and gang raped by four persons - Surendra, Maden, Rajesh and one unidentified - in Alipur village.

The accused were booked under charges of rape but no one has been arrested so far, police said.
