A 52-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the Pamban road bridge near here, police said today.
The woman identified as Varalakshmi from Karur district jumped into the sea last night, they said.
A group of fishermen, who saw her jumping, informed the Mandapam Marine police who started a search for the body and found it this morning, they said.
The woman's identity was established with the help of an ID card found in a bag in her possession, they said.
Marine police have registered a case in this connection.
