Sumandeep Kaur (25) yesterday consumed poison at her residence. The woman's in-laws rushed her to a private hospital where she was declared brought dead, they said.
On the basis of a complaint filed by Sumandeep's father Ram Singh, police registered a case of abetment to suicide against the woman's husband Jaspal Singh, father-in-law Manga Singh and mother-in-law Chhinder Kaur.
Ram Singh alleged repeated incidents of harassment and domestic violence against his daughter had compelled her to take such an extreme step, police said.
Sumandeep was married to Jaspal five years back. The couple has two children.
