Woman commits suicide with husband's service revolver

A woman today allegedly committed suicide by shooting herself with her husband's service revolver in Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharswan district, police said.

The incident happened at the couple's quarter in the National Institute of Technology (NIT) campus under the jurisdiction of RIT police station, the police said.

The woman shot herself in the head with the revolver, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Avinash Kumar said.

Her husband, D N Thakur, is a sub-inspector in the district, he said.

She was taken to the Tata Main Hospital here, where doctors declared her brought dead, the SDPO said.

Senior police officers, including the Superintendent of Police (SP) Chandan Kumar Sinha rushed to the spot to investigate the incident.
 

The exact reason behind the incident is yet be ascertained, the SDPO said, adding, that the body was sent for post mortem examination.
