Woman dies after she fell on track while boarding moving train

A 47-year-old woman died after she slipped and fell on the track and was run over while trying to board a moving train at the railway station here today, police said.

Maherben fell on the tracks and her left arm and leg got severed when the train run over here when she attempted to board the Mangaluru-bound Parasuram Express which had just then started moving.

After first aid at a district hospital here, the woman was rushed to the KIMS hospital at Thiruvananthapuram, where doctors declared her brought dead, police said.

The woman and her daughter were on their way to Kochi in connection with the latter's entrance test for engineering course when the tragedy occurred. The daughter had boarded another coach.
 

The victim's husband is an auto-rickshaw driver and had dropped them at the station, police added.
