A 28-year-old woman, who had undergone sterilisation at the public health centre of Uchchain town in Bharatpur district, died of alleged faulty post-operative care and negligence of doctors, police said.

The woman, identified as Maya Devi alias Buddho, had undergone sterilisation at a camp at the health centre on July 11 and died on the same day while she was being shifted to Jaipur for treatment.

Her husband, Charan Singh Kushwaha, filed an FIR with the police alleging that the surgeons at the camp did not attend to her after the operation and instead sent her to Bharatpur's RVM Hospital, from where she was further referred to Jaipur's SMS Hospital.

Maya Devi succumbed to internal body problems on way to Jaipur, her husband alleged.

In a separate police complaint, Nekpur village sarpanch Daulat Singh alleged that the oxygen cylinder fitted with the ambulance, in which she was being shifted form Bharatpur to Jaipur, was empty.

Meanwhile, Principal Medical Officer Akhilesh Srivastava denied the allegations, saying the ambulance was well equipped and the cylinder was full.

Uchchain villagers have demanded a probe against surgeon Dr M L Agarwal and Srivastava for their alleged negligence.
