An elderly woman died this
morning after the two-wheeler, of which she was a pillion rider, skidded while travelling down a bridge in south Kolkata, police said.
The incident happened at around 10.20AM when 63-year-old Malati Karan was severely injured when the scooty, on which she was the pillion rider skidded on the southern slope of Durgapur Bridge in the Chetla Police Station area, they said.
Karan, resident of Sahapur Colony was rushed to the nearby BP Poddar Hospital where she was declared brought dead, police said adding that the rider of the scooty, however, had a "miraculous escape".
