Woman dies in forest fire, two others seriously injured

The victims who belonged to Patlue village in Pokhara development block in the district were brought to the government hospital here where one woman succumbed to her burn injuries while the other two have been referred to Dehradun for treatment due to seriousness of their injuries.

According to Dr P S Samant, Chief Medical Officer of Government Hospital, Kotdwara, three women were brought by the 108 emergency service suffering serious burns around 2:30 AM today and were given treatment.

However, Veera Devi (48) died while two others -- Asha Devi and Harashu Devi with 80 per cent and 50 per cent burns respectively -- have been referred to Coronation State Hospital in Dehradun which has a specialised burn unit.

 

The women were returning from Timal Khet village when they got trapped in the fire, Himanshu Badoni, local resident and journalist said.

Their cries brought villagers on the spot who rescued them and called the emergency service.
