A newly married woman died of burn injuries while her husband is battling for life with 60 per cent burns at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here, police said today.
The woman was identified as Mamata Sahu (24) and her husband as Mitu Sahu (27) of Aska in Ganjam district.
It is suspected that the woman tried to commit suicide by setting her on fire yesterday and the husband might have sustained injuries while trying to save her, said a police officer.
"We'll get to the know the exact reason behind the incident after questioning Mitu," he said.
