Woman dies of suspected dengue in Phagwara, toll climbs to 8

A 38-year-old woman has died of suspected dengue here, taking the death toll due to the vector-borne disease to eight.

Usha Rani of Ratanpura locality died of suspected dengue yesterday, officials said.

Earlier, a boy had died of suspected dengue on October 2. Six women had last month died of the deadly disease.

No death has occurred due to suspected dengue in the civil hospital, Senior Medical Officer Dr Manohar Lal said.

"These suspected dengue deaths occurred either at private hospitals or homes," he said.

"However, I apprised the district officials of Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) who probe into such cases," he said.
