A 25-year-old woman died today at a sterilisation camp organised by the Haryana health department with her family members alleging negligence by medical officials.
According to police, who have registered an FIR in the matter upon a complaint by the family members, the deceased, identified as Rajbala, wife of one Sukhbir and a resident of Mohana, had gone in the afternoon to the camp in her village accompanied by her mother.
Before undergoing the sterilisation procedure, Rajbala had been examined by health officials at the camp. She went for surgery at around 3.30 P.M. And it was just after the operation that her condition began to deteriorate, police said.

Alarmed, doctors at the camp shifted Rajbala to the Gold Field Medical College near Chaisa village. It was there that she succumbed during treatment.
Police said they are waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the cause of death, adding that the body has been shifted to the mortuary at Badshah Khan Hospital.
The state health department has been informed of the matter, police said.
Thirteen women lost their lives while several others were left critically ill due to botched surgeries at tubectomy camps earlier this month in Chhattisgarh.
Inquiries into the causes behind the tragedy found the presence of poisonous substance in the medicines which were distributed to the women at the Chhattisgarh camps.
