A 21-year-old woman was electrocuted under mysterious circumstances while her husband was found unconscious in the same room and her father alleged foul play in her death, police said.

According to the police, the deceased, identified as Manisha had been living with her husband Sunil at a rented accommodation in Harsh Vihar area of North East Delhi since their marriage three years ago.

"A neighbour of the deceased heard Manisha's scream and called her family members. When the family members reached the spot, they found the door locked from inside. When they broke open the door, Manisha and Sunil were found unconscious in the room. They were rushed to a nearby government hospital where Manisha was declared brought dead," said a police official.

Rustam, the father of the deceased, alleged Sunil was harassing her daughter for dowry and has killed her by giving her electric shock.

"The body of the victim bore multiple injury marks. Preliminary investigations suggest that she was assaulted by her husband who allegedly gave her electric shock. An inquiry has been initiated into the matter and Sunil has been detained for questioning," said a police official.
