Woman falls into 40-ft-deep gorge in Doda dist, dies

A 35-year-old tribal woman died Sunday after she fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, police said.

The deceased was identified as Suffera Begum, a Gujjar. She was a resident of Malat Chilli in Gandoh tehsil.

At the time of the accident, Begum was collecting fodder near her house when she accidentally slipped from a hillock and fell into a 40-feet-deep gorge, said Assistant Superintendent of Police, Bhadarwah, Rajinder Singh.

He said the rescuers shifted her to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.The body was handed over to her family after completion of legal formalities, he said.
