A 25-year-old woman was found dead at her rented house in Chorda Digisahi area in Jajpur district, police said today.
The woman, identified as Archana Kumari, was the wife of an officer of a Kalinga Nagar-based private steel plant, the police said.
"We have registered a case against the woman's husband on the basis of a complaint lodged by the father of the deceased and detained him for interrogation," the Inspector-in-Charge of Jajpur Road police station, Amitav Mohapatra, said.
The dead woman's husband works as an assistant manager at a private steel industry located at Kalinga Nagar Industrial Complex, he said.
The exact cause of death could be ascertained only after post-mortem examination, the police officer said.
According to the officer, the woman's husband came to his rented house after work yesterday night and found the door of his house locked from inside.
He broke open the door after he did not get any response from his wife, found her hanging from the ceiling fan and called the police, the officer said.
